Zen Trail
As the name implies, this trail is unique, in that it wanders the area of Sand Mountain and the Hurricane Sand Dunes with no particular destination on a route that is flexible for the requirements of the weather, desires of the group, angle of the sun, etc.
The goal, of course is enlightenment and FUN! First timers will be enlightened on traversing sand dunes and rocky trails with no problem. They will also learn a lot about the area. CB radios are recommended, in that much of the information about the area will be during the drive.
Become one with the mountain, and wander in bliss.
Scenery
Much of the "bliss" is from the wonderful scenery that can be enjoyed from many different vantages on this trail. All of the scenic trails surrounding Sand Mountain and the Hurricane Sand Dunes are enjoyed from this trail. To the south, we have the Arizona Strip that runs between Sand Mountain and the Grand Canyon. To the east there is the Hurricane Cliffs. The Red Cliffs and snow-capped Pine Valley Mountains lie to the west. Sand Hollow Reservoir and Zion Park are to the north. Ahhhh!
Surface
Sand dunes and a mixture of rocky and sandy two-track trails.
Trail Details
The only obstacles are the ones internal to you. The trail is merely the instrument to unlock those obstacles and set them free. To glide with little effort upon the waves of sand will give you great bliss and understanding. Most of all remember that the key ingredient of bliss is FUN!
