Frequently Asked Questions

When is the Winter 4x4 Jamboree?

The Jamboree is held the third week of January every year - Vendor setup and Regsitration beginning on Tuesday with the Event trails running on Thursday thru Saturday. See the Event Schedule page for details.

Where are the Jamboree Headquarters?

Washington County Fairgrounds, Hurricane, UT (near St. George and 2 hours from Las Vegas).

How do I sign up and register?

The best way is to create an account on our website now.  Once you have done that and when Trail Registration is opened you will be able to sign up for and pay for your trails.  See our detailed instructions on our Help Page.

Can I register at the Event?

No! There will NOT be onsite resgistration this year.

When does registration open?

Check our Jamboree website to find out our online Registration window. You can create an account now to be ready for trail registration. All registered account owners will receive an email announcement as a reminder to select your trails.

How much does it cost?

The Jamboree cost is a flat $50 per vehicle per trail / per day.  There is no extra charge for passengers. Also there is no cost for primitive camping at the fairgrounds.

Can I bring my children?

Absolutely! We encourage families to attend.  We will have a Kids Raffle and Kids RC 4x4 Play Course. Kids can bring their own RC vehicles to use, but there will be RC vehicles available for use.

Can I bring my Dog / Cat / Pet Hamster?

Absolutely!  However, all pets must be controlled at all times with leashes and / or muzzles.  And please, be considerate and pack out any pet waste!

Do I have to pay extra for my guests and kids?

No.  We only charge per vehicle going on a guided trail run. There is also no cost to attend the vendor show.

Can I change my trail selections after I register?

Yes - based on availability.  Send an Email request to Registration@winter4x4jamboree.com with your name, invoice number, and request.

Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?

You may cancel your registration for a full refund up until the last day of online registrations (check our Jamboree Website for exact dates). After that time your registration fee becomes a donation to DRATS. If you order apparel online the apparel will NOT be shipped to you but can be picked up by someone you designate in the event you are unable to attend. There will be apparel sales on site.

What are my options for lodging?

We offer onsite dry camping for RVs and tents.  There are also many options in the Hurricane, Washington and St. George area for Motels, RV Parks, pay campsites and Vacation Rentals.  See our Lodging page on our website for more information.

What kind of vehicles are permitted in the Event?

Only full sized vehicles (including Buggies) are permitted at our event.  No side-by-sides, ATVs, UTVs, dirt bikes or other OHV vehicles.

What equipment do I need on my 4x4?

All vehicles should have basic safety equipment including seat belts, fire extinguisher, first aid kits, and basic tools.  Other equipment such as lockers and oversized tires will dictate the types of trails you qualify for. We very highly recommend a CB radio.

Will there be vehicle safety inspections at the Event?

No.  It is the responsibility of the Driver to make sure the vehicle is safe and properly maintained. We also encourage all vehicles to carry the appropriate safety equipment.

What's this I hear about Flags on the vehicles?

All vehicles using trails on Sand Mountain (most of the trails!) must have a whip flag on their vehicle.  The flag should be Yellow or Red and should be at least 8 feet off of the ground. We will be selling whip flags at the Event if you need to purchase one.

What is the weather like in January?

Average January temperatures are 33 low and 53 high.  But be prepared for rain and snow - just in case!  We try to run every trail as scheduled, however, we reserve the right to make last minute changes for safety reasons.

Where does my Registration money go?

The Event is organized and run by the very dedicated volunteers from the non-profit 501 (c)(3) - Desert Roads and Trails Society (Desert RATS) with substantial assistance from Utah Public Lands Alliance (UPLA). Last year, thanks to all our sponsors and attendees, we were able to donate significant monies to UPLA, Utah 4 Wheel Drive Association, Washington County Search and Rescue, and Share Trails/Blue Ribbon Coalition. These groups work tirelessly to keep our trails open, safe and available to our sport!

Will there be Vendors at the Event?

We have an amazing Vendor show complete with a raffle and other giveaways at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Will I have a good time?

That is up to you! We love to hear everyone's feedback before, during, and after the event.
